Reviews of ‘Rapid Tune Carrum Downs’

Great service. I didn't know what to expect taking my newly brought second-hand car in to have a good once over, but they found a few things that needed a bit of work and correctly quoted me before attending to the work. There were no surprise phone calls throughout the job saying they have found something else and I left feeling great, and that my car is in good hands. This is my go-to shop from now on.

My last experience with Rapid Tune was in August so I'm very late in writing this review, but I have felt for a long time that this needs to be done. I took my car initially to get serviced awhile back and while the service was done, I left there with a broken steering wheel control for my head unit to control the volume of my music whilst driving. I had never had any problems with it before, and when I took my car back in August to get it looked at (and some other further works) Rapid Tune denied having anything to do with it now being broken and took no accountability over my now not working volume controller on my steering wheel which I was very annoyed about. Secondly, also after the first time I left there after my initial service, there has been a rattling sound towards the back of my car. When I took it back for that second service and works, I mentioned it to them and they said they would take a look and get it fixed. That sound, along with the broken volume control was also definitely not there before I took my car to Rapid Tune. The other issue, is that stated on my receipt after the second time I took my car back to them was that a free car wash was included in the service. I only live around the corner, so it was only around a 2-3 minute drive home. I parked my car in the driveway and in the sun - my car is black so it's very easy to see dust and dirt - was a decent layer of dust. That tells me that they did not wash my car. What else did they state that they did - which I had payed good money for - and didn't actually do?? I'm furious, and so disappointed as I have recently moved here and was looking for a decent mechanic. Every time I drive I hear a very annoying ticking/rattling sound and my volume control doesn't work on my steering wheel. It will cost me hundreds to get that fixed and will also be time consuming. When you're a nurse working in Covid ICU, you don't get a lot of time to do things like chasing things up which should've been taken care of in the first place, considering almost $2k has been spent. I will not be going back to Rapid Tune at all.

A shout out to all the staff at Rapid Tune Carrum Downs. From the amazing customer service at the front desk, the sensational work of the young apprentice that worked on my car and the superior knowledge of their mechanics. The team are friendly, their work is of high standard and they take the time to explain what was done and what is needed. There is no hidden costs or surprises when you collect your car. Best part….. they wash it.

A late review after making sure my issue was resolved. This place is amazing and actually a unique mechanics. I had a noise belt and they were trying to save me money by not changing it as it is new . Took the risk and replace it and my issue resolved once and for all Also they are amazing in regards of finish the care on time.

I couldn’t thank the guys and girls that work at the Carrum downs store enough for all the effort they go ensuring their customers are happy. I’ve been coming here for the last couple months and I’ve never had an issue with anything they’ve done or said in regards to both my cars. I find the team to be honest, trustworthy and most importantly respectful. As a female it’s so hard to find a mechanic worth trusting, that was until I started going to RT. I won’t be going anywhere else for a while and I can honestly say I’d recommend this team to anything who asks. I couldn’t think more highly of these guys, and I couldn’t be more appreciative of them and all they’re hard work

Rapid Tune Carrum Downs really helped me out when I had a flat tyre! It was late in the afternoon, I called expecting not much help, Nick told me to come straight down, they fixed the nail in my tyre on the spot and I drove away. The customer service was fantastic. I highly recommend using them to anyone. I will definitely be returning to them in the future. Great service.

Appreciate the persistence Nick, Dale and the team at Carrum Downs provided resolving the issues with my Captiva, contrary to diagnostics provided by others, (which would have left me with a large bill if acted upon), they self determined the fault to be something else much more financially manageable. All fixed with no issues and didn't cost me as much as it could have. Fair play!

I brought my car in twice with no idea what was wrong with it and both times the staff took the time to check everything and be completely upfront with me about what needed to be done. It took a few weeks to repair my car and the entire time I was kept up to date with impeccable communication, the effort the mechanic went to to make sure absolutely everything was attended to before handing me back my keys was fantastic. They called to check on me too after a week of having my car back, amazing service and I couldn't recommend them more.

Cannot fault Rapid Tune CD. They worked around my schedule and squeezed me in on a busy day. Friendly customer service, broke down each issue and explained in great detail what I needed to know. Pricing was great; it feels good to drive away from a mechanic without sacrificing a limb or 2. I will be back! Thank you so much guys!

I had been to Rapid Tune Carrum Downs 4 times previously and I don’t know what/who has changed there but I will never go back again and I suggest anyone reading this doesn’t go there either and here's why... The fuel pump in my Triton recently packed it in and these guys wanted to charge me $1100 for a fuel pump, replacement fuel relay and a fuel filter. Nick at the counter told me they couldn’t find a new replacement fuel relay in Australia and if they couldn't source a second hand one, they wouldn’t be able to fix the car for 6 to 12 weeks when a new relay arrived from overseas. Nick says he rang around and tried to find a second-hand fuel relay but couldn’t find one so I had to have the car picked up at my expense ($100) and towed back to my place so that I could find someone who was willing to put in the effort to find the relay and fix the car, or at least wait for a part to arrive from overseas. For this “service” Nick kindly charges me $55 to “diagnose” the car when the RACV had already told me the fuel pump had gone. So, I get the car back and the fuel/control relays haven’t been touched as there is dust all over them and no fingerprints. So what was the relay Nick was telling me about? Well, I looked under the bonnet and there was a relay is missing which I then have to go down to Rapid Tune and pick up because they forgot to put it back in before the car was picked up. Once I get the relay back, I check it with a Multimeter and to my surprise, it works. So I send an email to Japan Mitsubishi with the part number and ask if the relay that Rapid Tune pulled out was the fuel relay. Japan Mitsubishi kindly responded and told me that it was not the fuel relay but the steering wheel lock relay and gave me the correct part number – This just so happens to be the exact fuel/control relay I checked when I got the car back that hadn’t been touched. Anyway, I sent my car to Winifred Service Centre in Frankston and they replaced the fuel filter and fuel pump for $490 – no relay mentioned, no relay replaced, car works perfectly. Whatever you do, do not go to these guys, do not believe anything they write as a response to this review and don’t take your car there. They’re either incompetent, thieves, or both.

Brillant. After going to My Car in Carrum Downs (closer to my home) and getting no service and no assistance where I have a long service history, I hoped Rapid Tune might help. With a screw in my tyre I hoped they might help as I needed to be on a country road at 4am! With no service history here, these guys made room to help me out. Well done Rapid Tune Carrum Downs!! I'll be returning.

I was quite disappointed with the service I received from Rapid Tune. They took my car almost all day (8am-4pm) just to inform me that they'd ordered the wrong part. Also I was quoted an exorbitant amount to get the blower motor in my car fixed, $750. It also turned out that the wrong part they ordered wasn't even the part that needed replacing, it was just a $25 relay that needed replacing.

If you really took my review, or the experience I had with you guys seriously, you would have refunded my money immediately - You haven't refunded squat. I'll tell you what... You refund the money you stole from me and I'd be happy to call you and discuss!!! Update 2/10/2023: Still no refund! Update 13/10/2023: You guessed it. Still no refund! Update 21/10/2023: No surprise, still no refund! Update 7/11/2023: Yep. No refund!

I took my Suzuki for rw as it passed one 5 months earlier at the same time rear seats were replaced With a tool drawers and it was reclassified as a van so didht need rear seats. Rapid tune did rw and even tho I told them about it being reclassified and passed rw 5 months earlier and showed them paperwork from vic roads sayin it was a van now so didht require rear seats They still insisted it did and told me they found a place in Sydney that could freight it over for a cost off 1650 for rear seat seat belts and plastic side covers Plus freight As this sum was way over the quotes I got which were between 270 and 500 I knocked it back until I was running out off time to get the second rw test done before I had to pay again the 370 for anther rw So told them to order which they said they would Monday mornin before Monday I found a set off seats local for 270 I rang rapid tune Monday morning told them this they say they allready ordered them from Sydney and they have been dispatched allready I asked would they be here in time for rw test so I did not have to pay 370 for another one they said yes then asked me what did I want to do I said if they have allready been ordered and as long as they are here before Wednesday and fitted so rw could be done without me paying 370 agsin for another rw they garanteed it would be ok I said we’ll do it if they come before Wednesday and rw is done that Wednesday so I don’t have to pay another 370 for another rw Only to find on the day it was booked for second rw test I rang to take my car in they said seats didht arrive they arrived Friday my car went in Friday And it took them a week to bolt seats in I picked it up paid 1650 then they sting me another 370 for another rw test which I paid I asked to send me receipt showing wreckers charged me 1660 for seats and freight with nsme and phone number They refuse to So in the end they got me for 2300 dollars being for seats it never needed for rw but they insisted it did and 740 for two rw to be done when it’s there foult it went over the time frame So people give these guys a wide burst Not only do they rip u off but they mock u after they do

I hope all who saw this review saved yourself money and avoided these guys permanently. Just shows you... even after they are pulled up for being dishonest, they still don't have the metal to refund a $55.

Response to merchant: I don't know how you can say you stand by your diagnostics when clearly no troubleshooting took place, a the auto elecs I went to at Bosch Service Centre found the issue wasn't the fan, but the relay and we're able to fix it on the spot. Holding the car for an entire day was the part that upset me the most, though.
